Samsung and Visa team up for NFC mobile payments at London 2012 Olympics | BGR.
As reported by BGR, Samsung will provide phones with Near Field Communications that allow people to make payments with their smart phones, say at vending machines, for example
I think NFC technology has tremendous potential, but a great deal of education and marketing (and infrastructure to accept the payments, along with a new generation of phones with NFC capabilities) needs to occur before the masses will adopt it. For every geekh-ead who embrace new technologies, there’s probably 50 out there who won’t trust it. Will definitely follow up and see how it fares during the Olympics.
